Kiangnan (Jiangnan) Province is situated south of the Yangtze River. It encompasses several well-known cities, such as Nanjing and Shanghai. Mints operated at many times, with a modern facility built in 1897. Later, other mints for copper and silver coins were opened in Shanghai and other cities.
The specimen shown was lot 60337 in Ponterio sale 162 (Hong Kong, August 2011), where it sold for $17,925. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Kiangnan. 10 Cash, CD (1906). “寧”字戶部大清銅幣當制錢十文。 丙午。NGC MS-65 RB. Ex: The Frank Robinson Collection."
