Kiangnan (1901) 10 cents Y-142a.5
This specimen was lot 53199 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Kiangnan. 7.2 Candareens (10 Cents), CD (1901). NGC MS-65. Variety with no "HAH", dot between "7.2" and bamboo dragon tail. Satiny luster resides throughout with white centers and edges that hold sprinkles of light tone at places. Tied for the finest certified by NGC." This type was struck 1898-1905 with many varieties. For 1901, we note the presence or absence of the initials "HAH" and the presence or absence of a dot in the denomination "7.2".
