This specimen was lot 2277 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "KHOQAND: Muhammad 'Ali Khan, 1823-1842, AR tenga, Khoqand, AH1245, royal legend in teardrop // mint & date in hexagon, gorgeous strike, XF." This type was struck AH 1241-1245. Khoqand, once a powerful khanate in central Asia, was conquered by Tsarist Russia 1867-1875. It is now part of Uzbekistan.
