Kenya 1980 10 cents
This specimen was lot 73104 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "KENYA. 10 Cents, 1980. Kings Norton Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-67 Gold Shield. Possessing seemingly flawless surfaces, this blistering example is unlikely to be surpassed in quality. Not surprisingly, it is tied with just five others as the finest in the PCGS population report. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." This type, featuring perennial president Daniel Arap Moi (ruled 1978-2002), was struck 1978-81, 1984-91. In 1994, it was converted to brass plated steel and in 1995, the size was reduced. In 1982, US$1 = 10.5 Kenyan shillings.
