This specimen was lot 71176 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $92. The catalog description[1] noted, "KENYA. 5 Cents, 1971. PCGS SPECIMEN-66 Gold Shield. A faint blush of toning and a little die polish on the reverse. Jomo Kenyatta, depicted on the obverse, was the 'Big Man' of Kenya 1964-78. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." After the bloody Mau-Mau rebellion in the early 1960's Kenya achieved independence (1964), but remained a member of the British Commonwealth. Jomo Kenyatta, member of the Kikuyu tribe, was the first president of Kenya (1964-1978) and appears on all coins of that period. The five cents shown was issued 1969-1978. In 1982, US$1 = 10.5 Kenyan shillings.
