This specimen was lot 1497 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "KATANGA: 1 franc, 1961, PCGS graded Specimen 64 RB, ex King's Norton Mint Collection." This type was struck for the rebel province of Katanga during its brief bid for independence. A five francs also exists.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: copper.
