This specimen was lot 1199 in Steve Album Auction 53 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAPAN: Kyoho, 1716-1736, AV bu, Kai Province, Shin Koshu Ichibu-kin, struck circa 1725-30, stamped with paulownia flower above the clan name matsuki, as well as the denomination ichi / bu // symbol above, jo below, an especially well struck example for type! PCGS graded EF45. This is a local issue struck in Kai Province, an area of Japan that is today Yamanashi Prefecture. Its abbreviated form name was Koshu and many collectors refer to the series as "Koshu" gold. Many varieties exist."
