Kachar SE1505 tanka
This specimen was lot 949 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $8,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "KACHAR: Yasho Narayana, 1583-1601, AR tanka, SE1505, legends hara gauri charana parayana hachengsa vamsaja // sri sri yaso narayana deva bhupalasya sake 1505 (followed by a quatrefoil); a gorgeous example! choice VF, RRRR. This is only variety of Yasho Narayana's tankas to bear a full date, and of the highest rarity (none on CoinArchives or Zeno)." The SCWC comments, "Very little is known about this obscure state, and the only time that coins were struck in any quantity was during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. ...the small kingdom was saved from Muslim domination by its isolation and lack of economic worth." All the coins depicted in the SCWC are rare.
