This hundred yen was issued for the emperor Hirohito and was struck the Sapporo Winter Olympics of 1972. Altho made in a large quantity, we don't know how much it actually circulated, as it was a larger module than the regular 100 yen with the cherry blossom obverse (KM Y82).

Recorded mintage: 348,000,000.

Specification: 4.8 g, copper-nickel, 22.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
