This specimen was lot 23215 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAMAICA. Penny, 1950. NGC PROOF-65. Carefully produced and preserved with bright yellow surfaces as a result of the nickel-brass composition that are lightly toned, displaying a trace of reddish color beneath the king's bust. Very elusive in this proof format and especially desirable as a Gem." This type was also struck in 1952. The denomination was struck in copper-nickel until 1928; then converted to nickel brass in 1937. The series ended in 1969 when the coinage was decimalized.

Recorded mintage: 600,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 7.5 g, nickel brass, 27 mm diameter, plain edge.
