This specimen was lot 39057 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. 2 Lire, 1953-R. Rome Mint. NGC MS-66." This type was struck 1953-59, 1968-2001. A few dates are scarce but this one is common. All of the dates of 1968-2001 were struck only for the collector sets.
Recorded mintage: 4,125,000.
Specification: 0.8 g, aluminum, 18.3 mm diameter, reeded edge.
