This specimen was lot 3528 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY: Vittorio Emanuele III, 1900-1946, 20 centesimi, 1943 year XXI-R, key date, lustrous, NGC graded MS61." This type was struck 1936-38 in nickel and 1939-43 in stainless steel. This is the last and scarcest date, stainless steel being needed for the war which Italy was losing.
