Aureo y Calicó sale 422, lot 3344

This specimen was lot 3344 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 320 € (about US$414 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Italia. 1868. Víctor Manuel II. T (Turín). BN. 20 liras. AU. EBC [extremely fine]." This date is one of a series struck 1861-70 at the Turin mint during the reign of Victor Emanuel of Italy. It is struck to the same standard as the contemporary French twenty francs. Altho a low mintage date compared to the 1865-T, it is not awarded a premium.

Recorded mintage: 340,000.

Specification: 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, 21 mm diameter, this specimen 6,43 g.
