This specimen was lot 1185 in Goldberg sale 116 (Los Angeles, June 2020), where it sold for $870. The catalog description[1] noted, "Israel. 10 New Sheqalim, 1990. Archaeology. Ancient Hebrew Alphabet, menorah below. Choice Brilliant Proof." This type was accompanied by a silver two new sheqalim (KM 213) and silver sheqel (KM 212), which were probably sold in sets. The coinage was reformed in 1985-86, with 1,000 sheqalim = one new sheqalim.
Recorded mintage: 1,815 proofs, Paris mint.
Specification: 17.28 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.500 troy oz AGW, 30 mm diameter.
