This type was struck at Dublin for Ireland in 1985-88 and 1992-2000. The stallion on the reverse originally appeared on the half crown of 1928-67. The coin was demonetized in 2002 when Ireland joined the euro. Proofs exist for 1986.
The Irish Currency Office in Dublin began production of currency in 1974 and coins in 1976; previously, these items had been contracted in Britain.
