This specimen was lot 34906 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $496. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. 1/2 Penny, 1782. PCGS MS-65 BN Secure Holder. George III (1760-1820)." As the Royal Mint in London could not keep up with the demand for English coinage, it is not surprising that issues for Ireland are scanty and few. During George III's reign, half pennies were issued 1766, 1769 and 1775-82.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: copper.

Catalog reference: S-6614; KM-140.
