This specimen was lot 2155 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $390. The catalog description[1] noted, "QAJAR: Nasir al-Din Shah, 1848-1896, AV 1/5 toman, Tehran, AH1278, ANACS graded AU58, RR." This type, a very seldom used denomination, was struck at Rasht (KM 851.1), Shiraz (KM 851.2) and Tehran (KM 851.3). The Tehran mint is listed for AH 1270, 1277, 1294. After the decimal reform, this became the 2000 dinars and was normally struck in silver.
