Iran AH 1153 rupi KM-431
This specimen was lot 606 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFSHARID: Shahrukh, as viceroy at Herat, 1739-1747, AR rupi, Herat, AH1153, citing the chief Afsharid ruler Nadir Shah on the obverse, scrapes on obverse, very rare with legible date, bold VF, R." Herat is now in Afghanistan but at this time part of Afsharid Iran. This type was struck there AH 1153-1159 while Shahrokh was viceroy for his grandfather Nader Shah. Shahrokh survived the immediate turmoil after Nader's assassination and sat on the throne three times, AH 1161-63, AH 1163-66 and AH 1168-1210. He was finally murdered in 1796 after the Qajar takeover.
