Iran AH 1126 ashrafi KM-287.1
This specimen was lot 13 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 1,150 CHF (about US$1,520 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Safavid Dynasty, Soltan Hosayn, 1105-1135 AH (1694-1722). Ashrafi 1126 AH (1714), Isfahan Mint. Äusserst seltener Münztyp; Extremely rare type. NGC MS62. Purchased from A. Shams, Frankfurt, in 1983."
This type was struck at Isfahan AH 1127-1134 along with Qazvin, Kashan and Mashhad. Soltan Hoseyn, a weak and dissolute ruler installed by the eunuchs and the harem, allowed his realm to disintegrate while he drank and debauched himself.
