This specimen was lot 76435 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. Safavid Dynasty. Presentation 10 Shahi, AH 1117 (1705/06). Isfahan Mint. Sultan Husayn. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. A simply stunning presentation 10 Shahi, struck at Isfahan in phenomenal style. The care in the calligraphy is evident, with exceptionally bold strike quality. Evidence of circulation is limited, with no immediate signs of drawdown seen. Despite the notation of cleaned, this example is quite choice, and should score highly with collectors of Iranian coinage." Soltan Hoseyn, a weak and dissolute ruler installed by the eunuchs and the harem, allowed his realm to disintegrate while he drank and debauched himself.
