This specimen was part of lot 2443 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), which sold for $72. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA: Republic, 2-coin mint set, 2007(m), struck at the Mumbai Mint, commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the First War of Independence of 1857, including 100 (silver) and 5 rupees, sealed in original booklet with paper sleeve; set of 2 coins." This uncirculated issue has a diamond mintmark; the proofs have the M mintmark. The figures on the reverse are the Rani of Jhansi, General Tatya Tope and Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar II. It was restruck in 2012 with a different box. The First War of Independence is better known to American collectors by its British name, the Indian Mutiny, which terminated the East India Company. The set also contained a 100 rupees (KM 384). The specification given below is for the version inserted in the mint set; the circulation issue was 6.03 g, stainless steel, but the SCWC does not distinguish between them. As of July 2025, 5 rupees = US$0.058.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 9 g, copper-nickel, 22.8 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 359, KM-MS79 (set).
