This specimen was struck for the republic of Iceland in 1974 along with a silver 500 kronur and 1,000 kronur. The set honored the 1100th anniversary of human settlement in Iceland. This specimen was sold by Heritage Auction Galleries in an internet sale (October 2012) for $763.75. The catalog description noted, "Republic gold 10,000 Kronur 1974, Choice UNC."
Recorded mintage: 12,000 plus 8,000 proofs.
Specification: 15.5 g, 0.900 fine gold, reeded edge.
