Iceland 1969 10 aurar rev GH.jpg

This specimen was struck for the republic of Iceland in 1969. Formerly a kingdom under the Danish crown, Iceland declared herself a republic in 1944. This is the last year of this type; the 1970 issue is aluminum. Fine and coarse reeding is reported but neither variety receives a premium. Few issues of the republic are catalogued at more than a few dollars.

Recorded mintage: 3,200,000.

Specification: 1.5 g, copper-nickel, 15 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 10.
