This specimen is a scarce date of a series struck in Copenhagen for the kingdom of Iceland 1926-40. The kingdom was separated from Denmark in 1918 and coinage commenced with an issue of ten and twenty-five aurar in 1922. One and two kronur were added in 1925 and one, two and five aurar in 1926. The kingdom ended when Iceland declared herself a republic in 1944. Most issues are common but a few are scarce in high grade. This is the scarcest of the four dates.
