This specimen was lot 31048 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hyderabad. Mir Usman Ali Khan II gold Ashrafi AH 1349/20 (1930) MS64 NGC, Hyderabad mint. Nearly Gem, with rich, golden surfaces that support a well-executed strike and fields that are without any noteworthy marks. Conditionally scarce at this level and finer. From the Commander Collection." The Indian princely state of Hyderabad was one of the few large enough and wealthy enough to mint an extensive series of gold coins. This type, struck for Mir Usman Ali Khan (AH 1329-1367 or 1911-48 A.D.), is listed for AH1331-1362 but is still expensive.
