Hungary 1916-KB 20 korona
This specimen was lot 33228 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Franz Joseph I gold 20 Korona 1916-KB AU55 NGC, Kremnitz mint. Numerous light marks do not detract from the considerable eye-appeal present on this bright, lustrous piece." This type was struck 1914 and 1916; it varied from the previous Fr-250 by the addition of the arms of Bosnia on the reverse (note the arm brandishing a sword at the bottom of the shield). The Hapsburg empire collapsed at the end of World War One and Hungary obtained her independence but without her territories in Slovakia, Transylvania and Croatia.
