This specimen was lot 4236 in Goldberg sale 104 (Los Angeles, June 2018), where it sold for $1,110. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hungary. Taler, 1715-CH (Pressburg). Karl VI. Laureate head right. Reverse: Crowned double headed eagle with arms on breast. Fields heavily tooled on both sides. Extremely Fine." This type, struck 1712 and 1715 in several varieties, is very scarce. Hungary in 1715 had been freshly reconquered by the Austrians from the Turks but was not part of the Empire.
