Künker sale 336, lot 6277

This specimen was lot 6277 in Künker sale 336 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$1,963 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"UNGARN, Ludwig I. 1342-1382. Goldgulden o. J. (ab 1379), Buda oder Pécs. Kammergraf Johannes Saracenus. Mit drei Ringeln auf der Schulter. GOLD. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Hungary, Louis I, 1342-82, undated goldgulden from around 1379, Buda or Pest mints, with three rings on the shoulder. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

The ducats or florins or goldgulden of Hungary are among the more common gold coins of the late middle ages.
