In 1931, the government of Honduras reformed the currency. The peso was dropped and the lempira adopted, with the exchange rate fixed at US$1 = 2 lempiras. In the 1970's, one, two, five and ten centavos coins were issued in bronze and bronze clad steel. Later, the coins were enlarged and changed to brass. The ten centavos shown is part of this later issue (1995, 1999 and 2002-07). A variety (KM 76.4) exists with thicker and larger lettering, probably produced by a different contractor. Per xe.com, the exchange rate in 2007 was about US$1 = 19 lempiras; the rate is now (July 2017) about US$1 = 23.4 lempiras.
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 6 g, brass, 26 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 76.3.
