Sedwick 39-2016r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2016 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 39 (Winter Park, FL, May 2026), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONDURAS, Tegucigalpa, 1 peso, 1884, NGC XF details / cleaned. Boldly struck piece with gray toning over semi-lustrous fields, a few minor hairlines." This type was issued in Honduras 1883-1903 and 1914 and usually comes poorly struck. It is much commoner than the earlier KM 51, issued 1881-83. Overdates and varieties abound. The peso was dropped in favor of the lempira in 1931.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, 37 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Stickney-C315; KM-52.
