from the Stack's Bowers 2018 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71030

This specimen was lot 71030 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, May 2018), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONDURAS. 4 Reales, 1854-TG. NGC VF-35. Well struck and centered for this somewhat crudely made issue. No visible remaining silver wash. Underlying warm orange toning on the obverse, pervasive blue and green toning on the reverse. EX: Richard Stuart Collection." This type was struck 1853-55 with a nominal silver wash. The last 4 reales was struck in 1857.
