Künker Auction 425, lot 1500

This specimen was lot 1500 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,531 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, AB 1692 KURFÜRSTENTUM HANNOVER Georg III., 1760-1820. Georgs d'or (5 Taler) 1768, Hannover. GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Min. Bearbeitungsspuren am Rand, winz. Kratzer, sehr schön +. (Germany, electorate of Hannover, George III, 1760-1820, gold george or five thaler of 1768, Hannover mint. Extremely rare, minor tooling on the edge, some scratches, very fine or better.)"

This rare type was struck 1768 only and matched the Prussian friedrichs d'or.
