This specimen was lot 32601 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $1,620. The catalog description[1] noted, "Germany. Hamburg. Free City gold Ducat 1851 MS64 NGC. Blooming golden luster enlivens the fields of this choice offering, struck to full definition and standing as the only example of the date yet certified by NGC." Hamburg struck ducats for most of the nineteenth century until 1872. This subtype is noted for 1851-53 and is rather scarce.
