This specimen was lot 29733 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hamburg. Free City gold Ducat 1663 AU58 NGC. A lightly-circulated selection with subtly-toned surfaces and devices that present a minimal amount of friction. Even though moments of softness are present, the overall strike of this selection is quite bold. An altogether handsome example of this popular type." This type is listed for 1641-67 and is fairly common for a German ducat of the period.
