The first specimen was lot 684 in Jean Elsen sale 124 (Brussels, March 2015), where it sold for €2,000 (about US$2,494 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HAINAUT, Comté, Philippe le Bon (1433-1467), AV cavalier d'or, s.d. (1434), Valenciennes. Droit: Le duc de Bourgogne, armé, galopant à droite. A l'exergue, HANN'. Revers: Ecu de Bourgogne posé sur une croix fleuronnée. Rare. Très Beau à Superbe. (county of Hainaut, Philip the Good (1433-67), gold cavalier d'or without date (1434), Valenciennes mint. Obverse: the duke, armed head to foot, gallops to the right; reverse: arms of Burgundy over a floriate cross. Rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 672 in Jean Elsen sale 157 (Brussels, December 2023), where it sold for €2,200 (about US$2,837 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"HAINAUT, Comté, Philippe le Bon (1433-1467), AV cavalier d'or, s.d. (1434), Valenciennes. D/ Le duc de Bourgogne, armé, galopant à d. A l'ex., HANN'. R/ Ecu de Bourgogne posé sur une croix fleuronnée. Rare. Légère faiblesse de frappe. Très Beau à Superbe. (county of Hainaut, Philip the Good, 1433-67, undated gold cavalier, Valenciennes mint. Obverse: the duke, mounted on a charger, gallops right, "hANN" in the exergue; reverse: arms of Burgundy over a floriate cross. Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"

Friedberg reports that a half cavalier accompanied this issue. Philip the Good was succeeded by Charles the Rash (1467-77). On his death, the Burgundian inheritance, including Hainaut, was partitioned between France and the Hapsburgs, with Hainaut falling to the Hapsburgs.
