This type was minted in Gubbio 1726-30 for Benedict XIII. It is among the first baiocchi produced in the Papal States; the Rome mint would not begin production until 1742. Baiocchi were also minted in 1730 for Clement XII (1730-40). One hundred baiocchi made a scudo.
