This type was struck 1965-70 to supersede the silver type used heretofore. Numista states these were struck in Guatemala, which we doubt. At present (April 2025), US$1 = 7.7 quetzales.
Recorded mintage: 4,030,000.
Specification: 1.6 g, copper-nickel, 16 mm diameter, reeded edge.
