SB822-34426r.jpg

This specimen was lot 34426 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $1,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "GUATEMALA. Gold 4/5 Ounce Medal, 1965. PCGS MS-67. Struck for the National Heroes series, this glistening Gem radiates with a soft golden-yellow hue and tremendous luster, and features the bust of Tecun Uman." This item is a medal, not a coin, but its coinlike appearance and its popularity with collectors has caused us to include it. A gold half ounce (KMX-M20) exists with the same design.

Specification: 27.95 g, 0.900 fine gold, 30.9 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: Fr-Unlisted; KMX-M21.
