This type was minted in Guatemala in large numbers 1894-97 with help from the Heaton mint in Birmingham, England. It is the last in a series of seated liberty designs beginning in 1872. They were struck to displace the Chilean pesos and Peruvian soles counterstamped in 1894. There is an 1896/5 overdate which receives a slight premium in the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: 1,403,000.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, .723 troy oz ASW.
