This specimen was lot 10482 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $2,232. The catalog description[1] noted, "GUATEMALA. 8 Reales, 1830-NGM. NGC AU-55. Reverse of 1830. RARE date, especially in higher grade. Toned with some attractive luster." The type is listed under the Central American Republic. It is not rare in circulated condition but has boldly increased in price in recent years. This federation was an attempt to unite all the former Spanish provinces of Central America into one country but collapsed amid recrimination and civil war.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a scarce date.
