Greece 1954 20 lepta
This specimen was lot 2752 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREECE: Paul I, 1947-1964, 20 lepta, 1954, a fantastic example, PCGS graded MS66 PL."This coin was issued during the waning years of the monarchy, which was never able to resolve the conflicts between the communists, the former Nazi collaborators and the corrupt political cliques. The monarchy was ousted in 1967 by a military dictatorship and then abolished completely in 1973. Today the country is the Hellenic Republic of Greece. The coin shown is an aluminum holed twenty lepta and was issued 1954, 1959, 1964-71. This date was struck at the Bern mint. The reverse features an olive branch. Similar five and ten lepta exist (KM 77, KM 78).
