Stack's Bowers 2026 ANA sale, lot 45960
SB826-45960r.jpg

This specimen was lot 45960 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $129. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREECE. 10 Lepta, 1857. Athens Mint. Othon. NGC EF-45." This is from a type struck 1847-51 and 1857 and, like most of the issues of nineteenth century Greece, is scarce. Despite the substantial mintage, this type is scarce in nice condition. King Otto fell foul of the local politicians and was forced to abdicate in 1862.

Recorded mintage: 883,000.

Specification: 12.99 g, copper, 28 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-29.
