This specimen was lot 1230 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"GRIECHENLAND Otto, 1832-1862. 1 Lepton 1834, München. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. NGC MS65 BN. (kingdom of Greece, Otto, 1832-62, one lepton of 1834, Munich mint. Very rare in this condition, gem uncirculated.)"
This type is listed for 1832-43 and, like most of the issues of nineteenth century Greece, is scarce. Despite the substantial mintage, this type is scarce in nice condition and this is a rare date. King Otto fell foul of the local politicians and was forced to abdicate in 1863.
Recorded mintage: 2,200,000 for 1832-34.
Specification: copper.
