Great Britain 2025 30 pounds
This specimen was lot 40589 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Gold Britannia 30 Pounds (1/3 Ounce), 2025. Llantrisant Mint. Charles III. NGC MS-68. Britannia type. A presumably RARE and low mintage issue, with a second privy mark (the normal issues display one) featuring a trident with an 01 between the tines, symbolizing this as being the first 1/3 ounce gold issue within the Britannia series. We've only encountered a single previous sale for this issue, it appearing in a British auction in May, where an uncertified example is reported to have brought £2143.75 (approximately $2900)." Numista comments, "This Britannia strike was the first bullion strike to be denominated at £30 or 1/3oz. It appears that it was exclusively for an American Gold specialist ‘Birch Gold Group’ and none have come to the open market as of yet [sic]. The coin featured a special privy mark to indicate these are the first gold Britannia's of this weight ever minted."
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 10.41 g, 0.999 fine gold, 22 mm diameter, 0.333 troy oz AGW.
