Great Britain 1932 crown
This specimen was lot 21077 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,702.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "George V Proof Wreath Crown 1932, PR63 PCGS, light gray with some abrasions. Not mentioned on the grading insert is the slight cameo effect of the portrait set against a mirrored field." This type was struck 1927-36 in very limited numbers and is expensive today; the commemorative crown of 1935 was minted in larger numbers than the entire type added together. This type was the last issued for circulation; all British crowns issued since have been commemoratives.
