Great Britain 1929 crown
This specimen was lot 23052 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Crown, 1929. NGC MS-63. Mintage of only 4994 pieces. Toned with underlying luster and quite good eye appeal." This type was struck 1927-36 in very limited numbers and is expensive today; the commemorative crown of 1935 was minted in larger numbers than the entire type added together. This type was the last issued for circulation; all British crowns issued since have been commemoratives.
