This specimen was lot 2994 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $734.37. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Half-Farthing, 1828. George IV. Obverse: Laureate bust of king. Reverse: Britannia. A dark chocolate color. Well detailed and looks like a proof. NGC graded MS-63 Brown. WINGS." This type was minted in 1828 and 1830 in large numbers yet it is still rather scarce in nice condition. Two varieties exist for 1828: KM 704.1, where Britannia's head divides reverse legend and KM 704.2, with a continuous reverse legend. The next half farthing was struck in 1837. The denomination was discontinued in 1856.

Recorded mintage: 7,680,000 plus 8,776,000 in 1830.
