This specimen was lot 20282 in Ponterio sale 176 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $17,625. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. George III, 1760-1820. Guinea, 1761. Mint State First laureate bust right. Rv. Crowned quartered shield with arms. One-year type. A very bold example with superb details and surfaces. A key Hanoverian Guinea type. Mr. Law was blessed with two excellent examples for his displays. NGC MS-62. Ex: Seaby, 1985." This type was struck 1761 only and is the rarest guinea of George III.
