Great Britain 1713 1/2 guinea
This specimen was lot 34759 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Anne gold 1/2 Guinea 1713/1 UNC Details (Obverse Cleaned) NGC. An exceptionally fleeting fractional issue of Anne generally encountered in lower tiers of preservation, which so often appear soft to the highpoints either from wear or sloppy production. This piece markedly differs, exhibiting razor-sharp detail and abundant Prooflike luster, despite instances of wisps imbued to the obverse from the noted cleaning. An unfathomably beautiful piece, with as-struck details, ample mint brilliance, and mottled amber and russet tones, coalescing to create wonderful eye appeal. Regardless of the conditional qualifier, pieces this nice are hard to come by and will receive interest consistent with that belief." This type was struck 1707-14 but normally comes heavily worn.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 4.175 g, 0.917 fine gold.
