This specimen was lot 31231 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2022), where it sold for $1,200 The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Crown, 1663. London Mint. Charles II. PCGS EF-45. This lightly circulated example offers some charming mint bloom that remains on the surfaces and overall solid details. Deeply toned, with moderating lighter color, the present specimen provides a strong example of the ever popular Crown of Charles II. From the Mark and Lottie Salton Collection." Silver crowns were struck for Charles II 1662-85; this subtype appears for 1663 only, the same year as the famed "Petition" crown.
